Artist Gisela Funke

Gisela Funke lives and works in Mühlheim in the Ruhr region of Germany.
She is entirely self-taught.
The need for creativity and love of art take up a large part of her life. Even when she was young, she was committed to art through her family connection with the artist Otto Dix (1891-1969). The intensity and the power of colours in these oil paintings appealed to her a lot.
Her paintings are not a direct reflection of what she sees but are an impression of feelings and images.
A specific subject, which can vary from landscapes and flowers to human characters, is frequently the inspiration for her painting. This subject is then abstracted and made part of a balanced composition.
Gisela exhibits her work regularly in galleries and art shows in several countries around the world.
